Essential Oils for Spiritual Growth

Essential oils have a long association with spiritual activities, as can be seen by the many references to them in the Bible.

Also, for centuries churches have used frankincense as a part of worship services. And recently, a growing number of people have begun incorporating essential oils with their own times of personal prayer.

The Importance of Prayer

Consistent prayer is one of the most life-transforming habits anyone can have.

Prayer helps us to focus on the Lord, see His perspective, renew our minds, live as He calls us to, and experience all the blessings He has for us.

Prayer truly does transform us as it puts us in a place where we can live God's purpose for our lives.

Although there are multitudes of people who pray, most have at least some frustration regarding their prayer lives.  This is due to distractions, inconsistencies, and a general feeling of ineffectiveness.

We also face emotional and physical barriers that can impede us when it comes to praying faithfully and effectively.

Essential oils can be a great help in overcoming our barriers to prayer.  And this helps to explain why essential oils have been used for hundreds of years to enhance the practice of prayer and meditation.

How Do Essential Oils Help?

Something clear from the use of essential oils in the Bible and history is that they've served to promote health and spiritual growth... particularly when combined with prayer.

How can this be?

For one, both prayer and essential oils lead to a higher body frequency, which contributes to better physical and spiritual health.  So, when you pray while using essential oils, the highly energetic properties of each have a more potent effect.

Also, because of their small molecular structure and aromatic properties, essential oils are able to penetrate the limbic system of the brain, which plays an important role in the interplay between memory and emotions.

Undoubtedly, the way essential oils can help you relax and focus is beneficial too.

And, undoubtedly, there are likely supernatural factors involved that go beyond our ability to explain!

Thanks to these properties, essential oils can enhance your prayer life in general... and they can also help you transcend specific barriers that have been holding you back in your life.

Practical Application

There are several ways you can use essential oils during prayer and meditation.  The simplest is to open a bottle of essential oil, hold it under your nose, and inhale deeply.

Another common approach is to put some drops of oil on the top of your head or rub some oil on your shoulders or chest.  This is the familiar practice known as anointing.

You can also incorporate essential oils into your time of prayer by using a diffuser or frankincense burner.  This helps to create a relaxed atmosphere and improve your ability to focus.

Any one of these approaches can be used to take your prayer life to a new level, showing that essential oils can not only support your physical health, but also your spiritual health.

That's why I regularly use essential oils during times of prayer.  As I do, I'm much better able to block out distractions and pay attention to whatever God might want to show me, which makes for a much more effective prayer time.
