What You Need to Know
About Scented Candles

If you're at all like me, you want a home that smells good... especially when you're expecting guests or during holiday time.

But keeping the aroma of your home up to your standards can be difficult, thanks to factors like food, dirty laundry, mildew and a variety of other environmental toxins.

Because the desire for a pleasant smelling home environment is practically universal, scented candles have become very popular.

And it's not surprising... scented candles do provide an easy and effective way to mask unpleasant aromas.

But that doesn't mean you should use them...

The problem with scented candles

Unfortunately, scented candles can be extremely toxic.

Most scented candles are made with paraffin, and, when burned, they release toxic benzene and toluene molecules.

Exposure to these chemicals can cause cancer.

And, other toxic chemicals from scented candles can adversely affect the respiratory and nervous systems.

For example, some people can't even be in the same room with a scented candle because the chemicals it releases trigger an asthmatic reaction.

Scented candles may also produce a soot similar to that emitted from diesel engines... and can leave a residue in your home, and affect the functioning of computers and other appliances.

An alternative to scented candles

Due to these hazards, it makes sense to find an alternative to scented candles.

One ideal alternative to scented candles is to use essential oils with a diffuser.

Essential oils have long been used to deliver safe and effective air purification.

This is because essential oils are able to naturally ionize the air and break down offending particles in the environment.

In this way, essential oils do more than just mask foul aromas... they actually get rid of them.

It's for this reason I run essential oil diffusers in my house every day.

Enjoy the aroma of your home

Diffusing essential oils is an excellent alternative to scented candles when it comes to maintaining a pleasant aroma in your home.

In fact, if you make diffusing a habit, you'll find people regularly commenting on how well your house smells.

And, you can do this with the peace of mind that your home not only smells fresh and clean, but you're supporting the health of your family – as well as your guests.

Diffusing essential oils can be fun too, thanks to the variety of aromas available... making them the perfect way to help set the mood for any occasion.
